November News

Dear Touchstone Families,

I would like to begin by thanking all of the parent volunteers who participated in our Halloween parade and to the teachers for helping make our Fall Family Fun Night a huge success. Thanks to your efforts and contributions, we had a great day and amazing class parties with lots and lots of delicious treats and activities!

November is a busy time for our faculty as they prepare for parent/teacher conferences. These conferences are an essential component of our program as they provide both parties with the opportunity to discuss student academic progress, social and emotional growth and to set goals for the future.

Parent/teacher conferences are an important part of what we do here at Touchstone School. In order to accommodate conferences, classes are cancelled November 25 to allow parents and teachers to meet. This is a time to celebrate accomplishments so far this year, and set up goals for the remainder of the school year.

As you know, Oregon weather can be very unpredictable. As we head into winter, it is a good time to remind everyone of our school policy regarding severe weather and how we will communicate with you regarding school delays and closures. Although we take other school districts into consideration, we do necessarily follow Lake Oswego or Tigard School Districts for school closures.

Inclement weather may occasionally make it necessary to cancel or delay school. Should this occur, any changes in the schedule will be announced on the school website and you will receive an email informing you of any delays or closures. These communications will be completed by 6:30 a.m. on the affected school day.

If severe weather conditions or other emergencies occur during the school day that require us to close early, parents will be called to pick up their children before the designated closing time. As always, the safety of our students and their families is our highest priority. If local weather conditions make you feel uncomfortable driving, please keep your child home from school.

I hope you have a chance to relax and enjoy some special family time over the Thanksgiving holiday. Have a wonderful month!

Thank you,

Gordon Kingsley; Principal
