Dear Touchstone Families,

Welcome to the 2018/2019 school year at Touchstone School! We are so excited to have so many new families join our school. Since we opened our doors a year ago, we have grown from 7 students to over 100. I am pleased that we are able to serve more families in our community and help support more students as they start their educational journey.

We are just now completing our first week of school and it makes me so happy to see classrooms already full of students who are engaged with one another, learning new things, and having fun. I want to thank all the staff for their hard work leading up to the first day of school to help make the transition for all our students go as smoothly as possible.

Many of you have already turned in all the necessary paperwork for your child to the front desk. Thank you for taking the time to help us keep our records up to date. If you still have some forms to bring in or need another copy, please see any member of the admin team and we will be happy to assist.

Touchstone School is pleased to offer many After School specialty classes for your child to take part in. We are pleased to partner with the following extracurricular specialists:

• Tumble Bus on Mondays
• Webby’s Dance on Tuesdays
• Imagination Yoga on Wednesdays
• Soccer Shots on Thursdays

All classes take place in the afternoon beginning at 3:00pm. Registration materials can be found at the front desk.

Back to School Night is coming up on Thursday, September 20 from 6:15pm to 7:00pm. This is a great time to meet with the teachers and learn more about the curriculum, classroom expectations, and classroom routines. We find that it is also helpful for parents to attend, so they may ask any classroom specific questions they have with the teachers and begin to establish communication between parents and teachers.

Additionally, there are several forms of communication you can look forward to here at Touchstone School. The Links2Home app is a great way to get daily updates on your child’s happenings at school. Alma, our online parent portal, can be utilized to make payments, update contact information, and manage pick up authorization for individuals. Twice a year (in November and May) we hold Parent/Teacher Conferences for families to meet with teachers and discuss goals and successes. Along with the Parent/Teacher Conferences, we also send out Parent Reports that are aligned with our Links2Learning Curriculum to show you how your student is progressing throughout the school year. Teachers are always available during the day at drop off and pick up to have informal check-ins about your child. You may also call the school at any time to check in about your child or simply ask a question.

I look forward to working with each of you throughout the school. It takes a team to make our school as wonderful as it is, and I am happy to have such amazing students, families, and staff as part of our amazing Touchstone Community.
