Dear Touchstone Parents,
Thank you all for helping our school celebrate Earth Day last month. Together students at Touchstone released over a thousand lady bugs to help the plants around our school and even made the news! Celebrating Earth Day as a community provides our teachers with many opportunities to relate science, math and literacy concepts to everyday life.
We will be kicking off May with our Family Garden Day on Saturday May 4th, the RSVP sign up is on Madeline’s/Pre-K2’s classroom door. This is open to all families in the school to come in and help clean up our garden for planting! It is from 10:30 to around 12:15. We are looking for some donations like soil, plants, a new fence and other items. See Madeline for what is needed or if you would like to donate.
Our Mom’s Night is on Wednesday, May 9, starting at 5:45 and lasts until approximately 6:45 in your child’s classroom. Each class is planning their own special way to celebrate their moms or other important person in their life. We hope you can make this wonderful event!
Teacher/Staff appreciation week is May 6-10th. The teachers/staff truly make Touchstone the wonderful school that it is for all of our students. We have organized a special thank you lunch for them during this week. Feel free to write a thank you card (provided in the lobby) or drop off a special card or gift-card in their dedicated area in the lobby! We also ask that on Wednesday May 8th each student bring in 2 flowers (or more if you wish) we will combine all the flowers to create a bouquet for each teacher. If you would like to celebrate their hard work in your own way you are welcome to do so, but not required.
On Thursday, May 23rd is our Spring Art Show from 5:30-6:30 in our gym. Each class will study an artist and re-create a piece of their art in their own way. We will turn our gym into the Touchstone Art Gallery and invite you to come in to view the art. Lite snacks will be served.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held during the day on Friday, May 24th. During this time you will have a chance to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss successes from the year and set up goals for next year. Please look for a sign-up sheet on your student’s classroom door as we get closer to the conference date. There will be no school or camp on conference day. If you can’t make it on that day and would like to meet, speak with your child’s teacher to set up either a phone conference or another day to meet.
Summer camp is starting to fill quickly. If you have not turned in your camp forms we recommend doing so as soon as possible. As a reminder- camp starts at 9am for half day and school day campers. This means drop off time doesn’t start until 8:45, please be aware of this so you don’t get charged early drop off fees.
Just a friendly reminder to please make sure you driving slowly and paying attention while in the parking lot. While I know many of you are in hurry during drop off/pick up, I please ask that you refrain from using your phones and paying extra attention to your surroundings. We have had a few near accidents in the lot in the last couple of weeks. I also ask that you hold your child’s hand and not let them run around the lot. Thank you all for your cooperation on working together in this matter to help keep everyone safe.
Thank you,
Elise West; Principal
