Dear Touchstone Families,
It is hard to believe, but it is almost time to welcome in the month of December. As we start this last month of the year, we celebrate many achievements from November. Our Pre-K classrooms rose collected several boxes of food for the Oregon Food Bank and Union Gospel Mission. Our school as a whole gathered over 60 pairs of PJ’s for our pajama drive for kids in need in our community! Thank you for your generosity and for helping us teach our students about helping others!
Winter Camp is quickly approaching. As a reminder there is no school December 24th through January 4th. There are some extra copies located at the front desk of the camp form if you need a new one. If you are interested in Winter Camp, please make sure you have filled one out and given a copy to Glenda or Tasha by Friday, December 7. All changes to forms must be completed by this date. This allows us to know how many students we have so we may staff accordingly. Space is limited, and filling quickly.
As the temperatures drop, please make sure you are providing your child with the appropriate clothing. It is important to bring items such as a warm jacket, hat, and gloves. Please feel free to leave a set in your child’s cubby so they can always be prepared. We strive to take the students outside as much as possible to get fresh air and appreciate your cooperation. Please label all items with your child’s name
As you know, Oregon weather can be very unpredictable. As we head into winter, it is a good time to remind everyone of our school policy regarding severe weather and how we will communicate with you regarding school delays and closures. Although we take other school districts into consideration, we do not necessarily follow Lake Oswego or Tigard School Districts for school closures. Inclement weather may occasionally make it necessary to cancel, delay, or close school early. Should this occur, any changes in the schedule will be announced on the school website and you will receive an email informing you of any delays or closures. A message will also be left on the school’s voicemail. These communications will be completed by 6:30 a.m. on the affected school day. Please be sure your contact information is correct with us! If severe weather conditions or other emergencies occur during the school day that require us to close early, parents will be called to pick up their children before the designated closing time and an email will also be sent out. As always, the safety of our students and their families is our highest priority. If local weather conditions make you feel uncomfortable driving, please keep your child home from school. Please be sure your contact information is correct with us!
Thank you,
Elise West; Principal
