Jan Newsletter
Dear Touchstone Families,
On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to wish each of you a new year filled with peace, good health, and happiness. I hope all of you were able to take time to relax over Winter Break and took time to enjoy company with family and friends. We are excited to have the students back in the classrooms and moving forward on their educational journeys.
It is hard to believe, but we are already starting to think about next school year. I will be placing priority registration paperwork in your parent files soon. As a current family, we like to give you the opportunity to reserve a spot for the 2018-2019 school year before allowing additional families to join our community. Priority Registration runs until January 19. On January 20th at our Open House, we will begin accepting applications from families in the community. If you have any questions about the process or placement for your child, please let us know.
On January 24th we will be having Dad’s Night at our school from 6-7pm. This is a wonderful evening where Dads or an important person in your child’s life can come spend the evening doing a fun activity in their classroom and enjoy a small snack. We hope to see you there!
As a reminder, we will be closed on January15th for MLK Day. I will also be out of town at a principal training January 16-18th. During this time Katie & Glenda will be available for your needs.
The weather in January keeps us on our toes. If we need to close for inclement weather an email will be sent out and we will change our schools voicemail with a message stating our delay or closure. Also, please make sure to send your child with appropriate winter apparel (coat, hat, gloves, etc.). Because recess is a time to move and play, children may get dirty. Check your child’s cubby and insure there are at least two changes of weather appropriate clothing. We want to make sure your children are comfortable while at school.
Thank you,
Elise West; Principal

Children are exposed to math concepts everywhere they go. There are numbers on street signs, shapes in the kitchen, and patterns on clothing. In the classroom, we integrate hands-on math experiences in all components of our curriculum. During science lessons, children make predictions, measure objects, and chart their observations.
