Dear Touchstone Families,
It is hard to believe, but we are in our last two weeks of the school year. The students have worked hard and grown academically, emotionally, and physically. I want to thank each of you for helping make this year successful. There have been many changes, and yet our students have been able to strive, thanks to the support from you, as parents, and our amazing teachers.
The last day of the school year is Thursday, June 11. There will be no school or camp on Friday, June 12 in order for teachers to prepare for Summer Camp. Over these last two weeks, classrooms are planning several celebrations to end the year. Please check with your student’s teacher about any upcoming special events.
If you are signed up for Summer Camp, it will begin on Monday, June 15. It is not too late to sign up for Summer Camp. Please fill out a registration form and turn it in to Glenda. If there are any changes to the weeks you have signed up, please notify Glenda or myself at least one week prior.
In order for us to keep the students safe in the sun, please make sure to bring in sunscreen for your child. There is a sunscreen authorization form you will need to fill out at the front desk. We will be applying sunscreen to the students for afternoon recesses and outdoor time, but ask that you send your child to school with their first application and ready for sun.
I am encouraging all families to take time this summer and read with one another. By experiencing a literacy-rich environment, both at school and at home, our students are prepared to become successful, confident readers in elementary school and beyond. I have included a list of some favorite books to enjoy over the summer below.
Sincerely,
Gordon Kingsley, Principal
